Powerpoint Ranger no longer

I was doing some financial projections on the company (seductively easy to do when you haven't even chosen a company name yet!) and wanted to do a projected value of the company in 3 years. I had to refer back to notes from business school on how to do this and popped open an old powerpoint. I then realized that it has been over 3 weeks since I've opened Powerpoint. I don't think I've gone that long since college!

And I ain't complain'.

What does the title mean?

Line of departure or "LD" is a military term used to describe the physical line where an operational movement begins. LD is a critical time and place because it sets the tempo of not only one unit, but all other organizations involved in the battle. Making LD is one of the most important actions a leader can do to setting the conditions for a successful action. To me, a line of departure also has a broader meaning. It represents a point beyond which another phase or experience has begun. I like to think of life as an ongoing series of passages, and each starts with crossing a line of departure.
