These are cute but so sad to behold. wonder what the animal advocates have to say. I can only add that human fancy is not so fancy for me. I'd much rather look at the deep awesome blue of the glacier chunks of Alaska...

What does the title mean?

Line of departure or "LD" is a military term used to describe the physical line where an operational movement begins. LD is a critical time and place because it sets the tempo of not only one unit, but all other organizations involved in the battle. Making LD is one of the most important actions a leader can do to setting the conditions for a successful action. To me, a line of departure also has a broader meaning. It represents a point beyond which another phase or experience has begun. I like to think of life as an ongoing series of passages, and each starts with crossing a line of departure.
